Bracciante (labourer)
What is it?
Designed with work in mind.
I almost named this the workhorse, but I thought “Bracciante” sounded more dramatic and fitted with my Sicilian heritage.
This is the bike you need. It’s a reliable, everyday bike that can carry everything you need for your daily commute, shopping trip, or casual ride to the pub. To keep the costs to a minimum the brazing is left unfiled, this bike is for your everyday work, I don’t make any pretensions about it being your Sunday best bike. I want you to ride this every day, in every weather. Ditch the car and go shopping on this.
My vision is of it having hub gears, drum brakes, dynamo and lights. This keeps maintenance to a minimum and you can hop on regardless of the time of day and know you’ll be seen.
What’s it like to ride?
Reliable, predictable, and comfortable. It will crush the tour or beat your Strava segments. It’s not for that. It’s for getting you to where you need to go, every day, rain or shine.
What’s it made of?
Designed around a mix of Reynolds 525 and 631 tubing and a porteur rack it’s got storage for days. Mudguard mounts and a chain guard mean you can ride this bike in your nicest clothes without worrying about extraneous chain marks or less-than-flattering mud splatters. It’s available setup for a Gates drive at no extra cost.
What size does it come in?
As with all my bikes, it comes in your size. There is a range of base sizes around which I work, but I guarantee your frame will be custom.
How much does it cost?
£850 for frame, fork and headset.
How do I get it?
You email me (pete@alfanoframeworks.com), and we discuss sizes.
Delivery is 4 months from receipt of your deposit and sign-off on the sizing from you.
Look, buying components and picking stuff is annoying. Can you do it for me?
Of course. A full build with lights, front rack, mudguards, etc. will be £2300*. Email me I can provide you with a full spec sheet.
*This assumes a set build and prices will change if different components are chosen.
